Sharjah Police confiscated 65 kg of banned items including niswar from various groceries in the city and Khor Fakkan. The police said that these items are outlawed by municipality regulations because of their harmful impact on public health. “Chewers of these substances also leave ugly marks on the ground and walls damaging the image of the city.” The police received complaints from the public about the practice so after confirming the information, officers raided the shops and confiscated the products. The shopkeepers, during interrogation, informed the police that they received the substance as a raw material, mixed it with other materials and then packed it in a shape of triangle to sell to customers. The case has been referred to the concerned authorities for penalties.
