His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Honorary President of the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation (BDSF), today received champion Fatima Abdulrazzaq, who won the F35 Shotput gold medal in the World Athletics Championship, held in Britain recently.
BDSF Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa was present.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad conveyed the greetings and congratulations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Fatima Abdulrazzaq and BDSF members for the honourable achievement, as well as the greetings of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, SCYS Chairman and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.
HH Shaikh Khalid said "We are proud of this remarkable result achieved by champion Fatima Abdulrazzaq, which has proved to everyone that she is a true athlete, capable of overcoming all hurdles by determination and willingness."
Fatima Abdulrazzaq had won the F35 shotput gold medal in the Paralympic Games hosted by Brazil last summer. Her repeated victory affirms her merit and adds to the record of Bahraini achievements in sports, especially disabled sports, he added.
He praised the BDSF's outstanding efforts under the chairmanship of HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa to create the ideal atmosphere during the training campaign, representing Bahrain in various sports forums and strengthening its standing on the global sports map.
HH Shaikh Khalid was presented with a commemorative gift by HH Shaikh Mohammed Bin Daij Al Khalifa on this occasion.
BDSF's Chairman praised the wise leadership's great support provided for dsabled sorts, which was reflected in the achievements brought over the recent years.
Fatima Abdulrazzaq said: "I was honoured to meet HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad and to listen to his words that inspire hope and drive me to bring more achievements." She also thanked the BDSF's Chairman and members for creating the ideal atmosphere during the training campaign.
