Eastern Province Gov. Prince Muhammad bin Fahd on Monday received at his office a group of Qatif scholars and tribal leaders who condemned the riots that took place in the city last week, killing four people and injuring a number of others. They said they rejected the violence committed by Qatif residents, the Saudi Press Agency reported. They also reiterated their allegiance to the Saudi leadership, SPA added. Prince Muhammad thanked the scholars and tribal leaders for their sentiments, adding that it was quite expected from the people of Qatif. He said the government would not allow a bunch of criminal elements to undermine the country’s security and would do everything possible to ensure the safety of people in Qatif.
