Dubai - Arabstoday
Light showers were reported in parts of Sharjah and other coastal areas of the UAE on Monday. There was also a slight increase in day temperatures, which are expected to continue in the next couple of days. Meteorologists in Sharjah said that the mercury would increase gradually on Tuesday and Wednesday, but scattered rain and cloudy skies would lessen the impact of the heat. The clouds will increase at times over the coasts, the western areas and the islands with a chance of scattered rain. The winds will be moderate and southeasterly to northeasterly in general and freshen at times, especially over the sea and the internal open areas. The sea will be moderate to rough, according to the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS). Wednesday will also experience the same weather, cloudy with a chance of rain, especially in the western coastal areas and islands. The sea will be moderate in general and become rough at times with a wave height of 3-6ft offshore over the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate over Sea of Oman, the NCMS added. Sharjah recorded a maximum of 31°C on Monday, slightly more than Sunday’s maximum temperature. On Monday, the winds were moderate but relative humidity increased over some internal and coastal areas during the night and early morning. For the first time this season, the maximum temperatures last Thursday crossed 40°C and Sharjah had recorded a maximum of 40.3°C and a minimum 30°C. These were the highest maximum temperatures recorded after last summer.
