Police are searching for suspects in connection with the death of a well-known tribal leader who was shot in South Shuneh on Wednesday, official sources said. Anwar Affash Odwan was found murdered in his home at dawn on Monday, Police Spokesperson Lt. Colonel Mohammad Khatib said. The victim was struck with six bullets that penetrated his heart, chest and leg, the police official told The Jordan Times. “Nothing was stolen from his house and it seems that there was a struggle,” the police official said. Khatib added that investigators have a good idea of the perpetrator, adding that “suspicions are targeting one of his close family members”. In May, the Criminal court sentenced a 33-year-old construction worker to life for murdering Odwan’s brother, Sami and another man on a street in Karamah over an old dispute in September 2007. Khatib said it was still not clear if the old murder is connected to the one that occurred on Monday. “We are currently questioning the family of the victim to determine if there was a connection and hopefully find evidence that would lead us to the perpetrator of this murder,” Khatib said.
