The National Congress Deputy President for political Affairs, Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid

The National Congress Deputy President for political Affairs, Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid, has commended the Popular Congress Party of late Dr. Hassan Turabi for convening its General Conference, saying this comes in line with the general quest for building parties on institutions, practicing democracy and exchange of power within these parties before moving outside.
Hamid was delivering his statement at the opening session of the General Conference of the Popular Congress Party, held in Buri area, Khartoum, and in which representatives of political parties, national figure and representatives of the Islamic Movements and leaders of the party are taking party.
Hamid commended the role played by the late Sheikh Hassan Turabi who, he stressed, has left behind a legacy that would enlighten the road for the generations to come
He said the popular congress party was one of the first political parties that have responded to the national accord call and to the National Dialogue, saying it was agreed inside that gathering to allow political dialogue be the only means for building political bodies and other strong political entities.
He urged that who have not got involved in the process to change their stands and participate in the process which would help the Sudanese build their nation amid the challenges the world is witnessing, saying dialogue remains the only means to build the Sudan and unite its people. 
He said thanks to the dialogue, peace has become a reality in the country. He said what is needed is that dialogue be a culture for the nation, not only exchange of views among the elite and entities.
Mahmoud has renewed the party and the government commitment to the road map signed by a the government delegation in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in addition to brining closer the people of the Sudan and that they would put their hands on the hands of others for leading the way for peace and security in the country.
Hamid has called on everyone to bypass the hard feelings of the past and move towards the building of democracy, freedoms and economic building, with the view to make the Sudan a good model, good governance and a country where law is respected and where the government respond to the aspirations of the Sudanese people.
