Beirut – Georges Chahine
The surname of the new French prime minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, has proven to be a problem to Arabs as it refers to a vulgarm term in the Arabic colloquial. According to Lebanese newspaper Nahar, the French foreign ministry, in order to ward off embarrassment, suggested that Arabic media write Ayrault\'s name in a way which would ensure the last two letters (L and T) of his surname are pronounces, which is not otherwise done in French. Nahar agreed on the suggestion, while the acclaimed al-Hayat newspaper, which is published in London, has chosen to modify the pronounciation to “Ero”. One of the Arab TV stations instructed its staff to use the name “Egho,” while Dubai\'s Al Bayan newspaper have decided to only use his first name, Jean-Marc.
