Egypt opened its Rafah crossing to the Gaza Strip on Monday, after the country's presidential election results were announced without sparking the feared unrest on the border. Rafah, the sole passenger crossing open to residents of Gaza, is open in both directions for travel, terminal director Ayyoub Abu Shaar said. The crossing was closed on Sunday amid a security alert in the northern Sinai, according to (Ma'an) news agency. Egyptian security sources said earlier its reopening depended on the security situation.
