Cairo - Arabstoday
Arab foreign ministers decided during crisis talks in Cairo on Thursday to ask the United Nations to support them in their efforts to resolve the crisis in Syria, a League statement said. The top diplomats agreed in their final communique to “ask the United Nations Secretary General to support the efforts of the Arab League to resolve the critical situation in Syria.” The League also gave Syria a day to sign a protocol allowing monitors into the country. If Damascus refuses, the regional body will press ahead with plans to impose economic sanctions, Egypt’s envoy to the League said on Thursday.
