Cairo - Wafa
The Arab League in a statement Thursday condemned an Israeli plan to expel 384 prominent Palestinian figures and political activists from Jerusalem, under the pretext of their activities in the occupied city. The statement said that Israeli intelligence recently summoned these figures and threatened to expel them from Jerusalem if they do not change their anti-occupation political stance and activities before September. The Israeli Minister of Internal Security approved the plan and gave authority to the Israeli intelligence and law enforcement agencies to implement it, said the Arab League. Jerusalem members of the Palestinian Legislative Council considered the planned expulsion as a step to empty Jerusalem of its Palestinian leadership and figures who work in defense of the city against the occupation and work to foil Israeli plans to Judaize the city, added the statement.
