President Mahmoud Abbas ordered the committee investigating the causes for the illness and death of former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to follow up on all information and reports regarding his death and to seek assistance from Arab and international experts to find the truth behind Arafat’s illness and death, Abbas’ spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said Wednesday. He said that the Palestinian Authority "was always ready to cooperate and facilitate work to expose the real reasons that have led to the illness and death of the late president." He said "the Palestinian leadership has vowed to follow up on the causes that led to the illness and death of the former president to find out the truth and to take all necessary measures to follow up on it since the death of the late president is still on the minds of Palestinians, Arabs and the world because of his importance since he was the one who has revived the name of Palestine, and who was its symbol and leader of the struggle of its people for four decades on the road to freedom and independence."
