Five people were wounded in a bomb attack in Iraq\'s eastern province of Diyala on Thursday, a provincial police source said. Aroadside bomb went off near a police patrol in southern the provincial capital city of Baquba, some 65 km northeast of Baghdad, wounding three policemen and two passers-by, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. Diyala province, which stretches from the eastern edges of Baghdad to the Iranian border east of the country, has long been a stronghold for al-Qaida militants and other insurgent groups since the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. Iraqi cities have been plagued by several attacks, including suicide bombings, since the U.S. troops pulled out of the country earlier this month.
