A child was killed and three others injured when a fire broke out in an apartment in Alexandria on Monday.

The civil protection forces contained the blaze which started in the children's room.

The owner of the flat said that she went to work and left her three children playing with their cousin, then she knew about the fire that killed her nephew.

The injuries of the children, aging between nine months and four years, vary between suffocation and superficial burns in the hands and feet.
