Reach Out To Asia (ROTA), member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) held a celebration in honour of volunteers, contributors and sponsors for its internal and external activities on the occasion of the International Volunteer Day (IVD).
IVD was established by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly through Resolution 40/212 on 17 December 1985. Since then, governments, the UN system and civil society organizations have successfully joined volunteers around the world to celebrate the Day on 5 December.
On this occasion, ROTA Board Member Dr. Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh bin Nasser Al-Thani said resources of any nation is the human resource and this is an established principle of ROTA because investment in the human resource is an investment in the future, adding that ROTA, under the leadership of HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, Chairperson of ROTA, assumed the responsibility of shaping a brighter future for the youth of today and leaders of the future.
She explained that ROTA focuses its efforts on the global citizen, through reaching out to Asia and through the foundation's volunteers who are the backbone of ROTA, noting that the volunteer becomes a global citizen who does not focus only on the circumference in which he is living but also to the global circumference. She said "Thus we contribute to the creation of a generation of leaders aware of the requirements and needs of the world around them, a generation capable of making the decision that contributes to change communities for the better."
