Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas underlined the importance of the concurrence of sainthood of two Palestinian nuns by Pope Francis with the anniversary of the defeat of the Palestinian people in 1948.
This matter enhances unity among the Palestinian people, Abbas Said, adding that "we seek to establish an independent and free state".
During the sainthood ceremony, Abbas underscored that those nuns represent a generation of great women, noting that they transmit the spirit of strength and power in all the Palestinian people.
He further expressed his appreciation to the Christian Palestinians for their contribution in establishing homeland, calling them to unite and not to surrender or migrate.
The nuns are named Mariam (Mary) Bawardi and Mary Alphonsine Danil Ghattas.
