Two persons including a local police constable were killed and two others sustained injures as a roadside bomb went off in Faryab province with Maimana as its capital 425 km northwest of Kabul late Saturday, police said Sunday. "A mine planted by militants struck a vehicle in Dawlatabad district late last night killing two persons including a local police and a civilian and wounding two others including a non- combatant," a senior police officer in the province, Toryali Abdyari, told Xinhua. He also said that in another incident, three Taliban fighters were killed in clash with police in the neighboring Qisar district Saturday night. Taliban militants fighting the government have intensified activities since early January as the NATO-led forces are scheduled to end combat mission by the end of year in Afghanistan.
