The sound of an explosion was heard in Kabul city early Wednesday after a group of insurgents launched an attack on the main military hospital, Khaama Press news agency reported.

The incident took place in the vicinity of Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan area in Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan main military hospital.

A gun battle is reported inside the hospital as unknown numbers of militants managed to infiltrate inside the hospital.

No reports of casualties were available.

No group has yet claimed responsibility.
