At least 16 Palestinians were killed Monday, raising the death toll to 530 and over 3,000 injured since the beginning of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip on 8 July, according to the Palestinian emergency services.
Up to Monday afternoon, 36 Palestinians, including many children, were killed in Israeli airstrikes and tank shelling on Gaza, which is controlled by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.
Israeli airstrikes claimed the lives of a family of nine, including seven children near Rafah (south of Gaza), and another family of eight, including 4 children, in the city of Gaza, said the emergency services spokesperson Ashraf al-Qodra.
On Sunday, the Israeli occupation army pounded the city of Shajaya killing 73 Palestinians, most of them women and children, according to al-Qodra.
The situation in Gaza will be the focus of an extraordinary meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva on Wednesday. The meeting will be devoted to the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East al-Quds.
