The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair inaugurated a new direct flight between Marrakech and Santander, Spain, on Monday.
The capital city of the autonomous region of Cantabria has become the first destination in North Spain to have direct air service with Morocco, reported Spanish news outlet Vivo Campo.
Bienvenido Rico, Cantabria’s General Director of Tourism, said that this flight is not only a tourist route but also a business opportunity for many companies. He added that the flight “will be also an opportunity as it will open cultural exchanges, based on knowledge and the learning of Spanish.”
Khalid Ougrirane, the vice-consul of Morocco in Bilbao, congratulated the Cantabrian government for the new flight, explaining that it “will reinforce cooperation of Morocco with Cantabria.”
“The newly inaugurated connection, which will operate throughout the year, will enhance business activities between Morocco and Cantabria and will provide a comfortable transfer to the entrepreneurs to explore opportunities on both sides,” Ougrirane said.
