Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, has awarded the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Awards for Excellence to 37 girls from the GEMS network of schools in the UAE.
The annual awards show was launched by GEMS in 2005 to honour H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, for her contributions to the empowerment of women in the UAE and her support for excellence in all areas. The event acknowledges HH’s role as mother of the nation, and her vision to celebrate, and support women’s achievements and self-determination.
The outstanding students will get a scholarship to cover a year’s tuition fee at a GEMS school.
These outstanding girls were nominated by their schools and were chosen based on outstanding academic success, a high level of commitment to the communities they live in and their demonstration of world citizenship.
