North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il said he would adhere to the goal of a nuclear-free Korean peninsula during talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao, China Central Television said Thursday. \"We hope to ease the situation on the Korean peninsula, adhere to the goal of a nuclear-free Korean peninsula and call for the early resumption of the six-party talks,\" the state broadcaster quoted Kim as saying. North Korea began denuclearisation talks with China, South Korea, the United States, Japan and Russian in 2003, but the discussions have been stalled for more than two years.
