The first trailer for the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton shows the controversial rise of gangster rap around the hip-hop group in the late 1980s.
The film, named after their hit song, shows the tension created by their lyrics that illustrated inner city life, angering parents and law enforcement with their anti-authority attitude.
N.W.A. members Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and Eazy-E are played by O'Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell respectively.
Straight Outta Compton hits theaters August 14, 2015.
