Oman hosts GCC red crescent societies seminar
The fifth workshop for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)

The fifth workshop for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) red crescent societies in collaboration with the GCC General Secretariat, has begun in Oman's capital Muscat.
Dr. Yahya bin Badr Al-Ma'awali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, member of the OCO Board of Directors, the chief guest pointed out in a press statement that the workshop provides an opportunity for sharing experiences among those involved in GCC charitable institutions, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
While delivering OCO speech, Badr bin Khalil Al-Hoqani, said that the fifth visit aims at helping participants acquire more skills in humanitarian work in general and relief and voluntary work in particular. It also aims at presenting the Sultanate's experience in this area during the past two decades.
Badr bin Abdullah Al-Zubairi gave a speech of the GCC General Secretariat during which he said that the workshop will provide opportunity to view humanitarian work being carried out by the Sultanate, represented by OCO during crises and disasters.
Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Ra'eesi, CEO of OCO made a presentation on objectives and activities of the Organization inside the Sultanate.
The seminar, which will continue up to 27th April, includes presentations by the National Committee for Civil Defence on its efforts to provide assistance and relief aids to victims. The General Directorate of Meteorology and some public organizations will also make presentations on their efforts in this regard, according to ONA.
