The newly crowned UAE freestyle jet ski champion believes he is in the best form of his career ahead of the World Championships in the US, according to a Press release. Khalid Salem Al Qubaisi, from Abu Dhabi, recently turned on the style to land the national title for the fifth time in Dubai. The 33-year-old is now focussed on world championship glory at the start of October and is giving himself every chance of a high finish with a meticulous new training regime. Khalid has decided to travel to Lake Havasu in Nevada – the site of the world championships – ahead of schedule to make sure he is as familiar with the waters as possible before competition begins. \"Fifth is my highest place at the world championships but I am determined to beat that and go as high as possible in the rankings,” he said. \"The competition starts from October 5 but I am going in September to fully prepare and this will give me the greatest chance to really compete with the top riders. \"I am in the best shape I have ever been and now it is about turning all the hard work into a great performance at the world championships.” Khalid juggles his jet ski ambitions with a career at IPIC where he is in the business development team. The company are also his sole sponsors and have backed his rise through the UAE ranks onto the international stage. \"It is because of the sponsorship and the fact we have such great watersport facilities here in the UAE that I am able do so well and keep improving. \"Hopefully, at the very least, I will be able to inspire others to get out onto the water – there really is no reason more people should not be enjoying watersports right across the UAE. \"The support from everyone at my company and the public in general has been fantastic and I am now just looking forward to the world championships and the chance to take on the best the sport has to offer.” Source: Khaleej Times
