Prominent producer and scenarist Mamdouh el-Leithy passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 77. The funeral will be at Moustafa Mahmmoud mosque in Mohandisen after Zuhr (midday) prayers, said head of the Filmmakers Syndicate Mosaad Fouda. Leithy was born on December 1937. He received several educational certificates not just related to cinema. In 1960, he got a bachelor’s degree of police studies and degree in law studies from Ein Shams University. In 1964 he achieved a diploma from the institute of script writing. He started his career as a policeman then later switched to journalism working in “Rozal Youssef”, “Goodmorning “and “Police” magazines and “The people” newspaper. Moving from one success to another, Leithy became the head of production in the Radio and Television Union. He provided 164 television dramas, 600 movies and 1,500 hours of drama and program recordings. Leithy achieved many awards for his effort in creating impressive masterpieces.
