Malala Yousufzai, the Pakistani schoolgirl shot by Taliban gunmen for "promoting secularism" is to undergo reconstructive surgery in Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital in late January. During the attack in October, Malala was shot in the head, with the bullet grazing the 14-year-old's brain when it struck her just above her left eye in the incident in the Swat Valley.
