The state of health of legendary engineer Mikhail Kalashnikov is of moderate severity, a source at Russia’s Healthcare Ministry told Itar-Tass on Sunday. “He is suffering from thrombosis of small branches of the pulmonary artery,” the source said. “The condition is of moderate severity.” The ministry is presently choosing a hospital to take the engineer. Russia’s emergency situations ministry /EMERCOM/ has sent to Izhevsk its Il-76 plane to fetch him for medical tests in Moscow, the ministry’s spokesperson Irina Rossius told Itar-Tass on Sunday. “Due to necessary medical tests, the doctors made a decision to send Mikhail Timofeyevich to a Moscow hospital,” she said. The Il-76 plane is equipped with a necessary medical module. “Best doctors of EMERCOM’s Rescue Centre and of Zashchita /Protection/ National Centre of Emergency Medicine will be on board the plane to monitor his state,” Rossius said. On May 17, 93-year-old Mikhail Kalashnikov at recommendation of his doctor was invited and taken to hospital for monitoring of his state. He received correction of the treatment, and on May 30 he was released from the hospital.
