German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle arrived here today on board a C-160 Transall aircraft on a surprise visit to Afghanistan According to the German Press Agency (DPA), Westerwelle is expected to meet with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and discuss with him the planned withdrawal of the German combat troops and the 2014 presidential elections there. Guido Westerwelle will head to neighbouring Pakistan this afternoon where he will hold a meeting with the newly-elected Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
