Shura Council speaker Ahmed Fahmi returned home on Monday, wrapping up a several days' visit to France where he participated in the first summit of speakers of parliaments of Mediterranean countries that opened Saturday in the French city of Marseille. Fahmi was accompanied by Essam el-Erian, the head of the Freedom and Justice Party's parliamentary bloc at the Shura Council and several lawmakers. The summit, held under the slogan of "Citizens for the Mediterranean", was organized by Anna Lindh Foundation. It was attended by representatives of non-governmental organizations from north and south Mediterranean countries. The summit focuses on five key themes: youth, women, immigration, media and institutional cooperation.
