An Iranian parliamentary delegation, headed by Chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee at the Iranian Shura Council Alaeddin Boroujerdi, arrived in Damascus on Saturday. In a statement to journalists upon his arrival, Boroujerdi said that the delegation's visit aims to support Syria in its resistance against Israel and the world's oppressive forces, in addition to boosting Syrian-Iranian relations and the friendship between the two countries' people. He affirmed that Syria is spearheading the resistance project despite all the conspiracies against it, asserting that Iran supports the efforts of President Bashar al-Assad in confronting US policies and the countries which implement, adding that the plans of those who conspire against Syria have failed. In turn, Chairman of the National Security Committee at the Syrian People's Assembly Ibrhaim Mahmoud said that Iran's support for Syria isn't a new thing, and that the Iranian delegation's visit showcases the strong relations between the two countries' people. The Iranian delegation's three-day visit will include meetings with Syrian officials to discuss regional developments and bolster bilateral relations.
