Sexual harassment has become an ongoing issue in Egypt
The issue of sexual harassment is being tackled in Egypt, as the Interior Minister issued a number of measures to confront the social issue. Security troops will patrol the streets of different cities to prevent harassers from threatening
women\'s security during peak hours. The streets will also be equipped with CCTV cameras. Women police officers will be especially hired in order to deal with sexual harassment incidents. Patrols will be working in front of schools and sensitive streets to implement the law against those who think they can act with impunity.
The decision comes following an intense campaign action organised by the Egyptian Council for Women. Mervat el-Tellawy, Head of the Council for Women, met with Minister of Interior Ahmed Gamal el-Din to elaborate a solution to the social problem.
