On October 17, in Stafford, Bonhams will auction off a collection of 60 motorcycles that belonged to Italian entrepreneur Tiberio Lonati. The collection is valued around 1.4 million euros.
This collection mostly features very old American motorcycles. They all come from Brescia, Italy, from the private museum of the Italian industrialist, deceased in 2013.
The most iconic of the motorcycles up for auction are a 1910 Pierce Four (valued between €85k and €110k), a 1930 Indian Model 402 (€55k-€70k), a 1916 Henderson Model F (€40k-€55k), a 1915 Thor Model U (€35k-€40k), a 1911 Flying Merkel "Racer" (€22k-€28k) and a 1942 Harley Davidson WLA (€20k-€25k), the very first motorcycle bought by Lonati.
The Bonhams auction will take place over the course of two days, during the Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show in Stafford. On October 18, about 20 motorcycles will also be auctioned off, and the proceeds will benefit a charity run by Moto GP champion Valentino Rossi.
