Loft Apartment in Milano
Located in a former soap factory, in the centre of Milan, this warm and comfortable loft is destined for both, business and leisure. The project was designed by Frederic Gooris (industrial designer) in collaboration with Werner Silvestri (architect)
. Its striking simplicity and the uncluttered atmosphere highlight the idea of (indoor) freedom. Undoubtably, this is the type of dwelling that makes you want to spend your time inside! Why? Simple: it promotes the idea of a cozy home and office while allowing you to breathe and move freely throughout the house. “During office hours, the dining room transforms into the meeting room by closing the kitchen in an oversized closet.”
As expected, a series of smart solutions have been implemented. Each inch has been used cleverly. To start with, the office area has been isolated acoustically. To symbolically mark the entrance into the office, a giant glass box (representing the office) was raised above the floor. In my opinion, this “move” represents one of the most interesting design solutions for space optimisation. “The semi-underground decanting tubs were transformed into one big sleeping room with dressing room and bathroom.” One can notice the breeziness, the exotic decorations and the simplistic (but elegant) furniture items.
