KwB’s Mobile library During its participation in the Fair

Knowledge without Borders(KwB), a Sharjah-based cultural project, is participating in the sixth edition of the Sharjah Used Book Fair taking place under the theme “Knowledge Tresure” at Al Nakheel Park on Khalid Lagoon from February 23-27.

KWB is donating 1000 books of various genres to the fair, organised by the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, with the aim of promoting a culture of reading and encouraging the intellectual exchange of ideas among the people of Sharjah in order to enhance the culture of both the emirate and the UAE.

Rashid Al Kous, General Manager of KWB, said, “Through our participation in the sixth edition of the Sharjah Used Book Fair , we want to spread the love of books and the culture of reading in the community, and advance thought and culture in Sharjah. KwB aims to make reading a daily habit and, more importantly, a hobby among the people of the emirate and this is in line with 2016 being declared as the Year of Reading in the UAE by the leaders of the UAE.

Al Kous added, “Also, KwB is providing the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services with material and moral support by participating in the fair. All the proceeds from the

sale of books will go to people with special needs. KWB will also have a mobile library where visitors will have the opportunity to browse and read books on display in a quiet setting.

Knowledge without Borders was launched as an initiative by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and is supervised and supported by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of the Organizing Committee of KWB. The initiative aims to establish reading as a noble habit in every household in the UAE, by encouraging the establishment of home libraries, and supplying these libraries with best reads in various domains suitable for the entire family.
