United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), said that a new attack on ISIS in the right side of Mosul could force 250 thousand civilians to flee.

About 162 thousand people fled after launching the process of liberation of left coast in Mosul since last October. Meanwhile, these numbers are still much less than the initial emergency plans developed by UNHCR, which predicted displacing of a million people or more from the city.

For his part, spokesman for UNHCR, Matt Saltmarsh, said that up to 250 thousand Iraqis may flee from their homes in light of the expected escalation of the conflict in western Mosul.

UN Special Representative to Iraq, Jan Kubis informed, Thursday, Security Council that the restoration of western Mosul represents a huge challenge, saying, "There is no doubt that civilians will be in grave danger when the fighting begins in the western sector of Mosul.
