U.S. President Donald Trump met with Egypt’s President Abel Fatah al-Sisi before US presidential election

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi received on Monday evening a phone call from his US counterpart Donald Trump, who expressed his support to Egypt in its war against terrorism, according to a statement by the Egyptian presidency.

The statement added that Trump expressed his interest to push bilateral relations and co-operation between both countries in different fields.

Meanwhile, Al-Sisi discussed fighting terrorism and extremism with Trump. Moreover Trump told Al-Sisi that he appreciates the difficulties faced by Egypt in its war on terror and asserted that his administration’s commitment to supporting the country, the Egyptian presidency’s statement read. 

The US president also said he is looking forward to Al-Sisi’s awaited visit to Washington which is being prepared for through diplomatic channels, the statement said.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had phoned in last November Us President Donald Trump to congratulate him on winning the US presidential elections and invite him to visit Egypt.

Sisi voiced hope that Trump's presidential term would be crowned by realizing peace, stability and development in the Middle East in view of the grave challenges besetting it.

Meanwhile, Trump voiced appreciation to al-Sisi's phone call which is the first congratulation call he received. He said he is looking forward to meeting al-Sisi soon.
