Syrian jets carry out air strikes on Douma

Violent clashes continued in the south-eastern countryside of al-Bab city, in eastern Aleppo, between the regime forces and  elements of ISIS organization, while the regime forces managed to advance in east countryside of Aleppo and controlling of nine villages in cooperation with the Russian artillery.

Meanwhile, the western desert of Palmyra in the eastern countryside of Homs is witnessing continued violent clashes between the regime forces backed by the gunmen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against the ISIS organization, for the 42 continuous day, after a counter attack by the regime forces on the 14th of January 2017. 

The attack started from the vicinity of the T4 airbase, and managed to advance until they reached about 10 km west of Palmyra city at the vicinity of al-Maqasem area, while the regime forces are trying to achieve parallel advancement in the mountains surrounding Palmyra area and also advancement to the triangle of Palmyra near the city.

The violent clashes between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them against members of ISIS organization, were accompanied with hundreds of raids carried out by warplanes and helicopters, and hundreds of rocket and artillery strikes, which coincided with explosions using booby trapped vehicles carried out by the organization and targeted positions of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them.


 ISIS also targeted sites of regime forces using missiles, which killed and injured tens of the ranks of both parties, while the regime forces managed to achieve advancement towards Palmyra city and reached a distance of 19 km, since the 13th of February 2016, after the regime forces stayed for days standing still along with the gunmen loyal to them, unable to achieve any advancement towards Palmyra city, where the organization repelled the successive attacks carried out by the regime forces in the vicinity of the western Bayyarat area in the western desert of Palmyra city.

The regime forces that are desperately trying to reach Palmyra city and restore it along with the oilfields in its western desert, have lost all of these areas in a violent attack carried out by ISIS organization on the 8th of December 2016, where they achieved widespread advancement at the expense of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them and controlled Palmyra city and other locations around it and in its desert. 


This control came after the arrival of reinforcement of more than 300 fighters and commanders sent by the leadership of ISIS after a meeting between the commander of “Jaysh al-Sham” with Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS and the Minister of War in the organization, where both of them confirmed to the commander of Jaysh al-Sham that the reinforcements would be continuous and successive from now on.

Syrian jets carried out four raids targeted areas in the city of Douma, leaving a child killed and many others injured, in conjunction with the renewable clashes between regime forces and Islamic militant factions on the other hand, in eastern Ghouta.

On the other hand, Syrian fighter jets launched raids on Habita town of Idlib's southern countryside leading to material damages, while they renewed their attacks on Homos targeting areas in Waar district. They also bombarded areas in Telzahab village of Homos' northern countryside.
Homs' northern countryside witnesses air raids from the governmental fighter jets in coincidence with clashes between the governmental troops and Islamist factions. The governmental bombardment led to the killing of one citizen and the injury of others at Waar district. They also bombarded areas in Homos' northern countryside.
However, the Islamist factions targeted the governmental troops existed in the Kurds Mountain at Latikia's northern countryside. The attack led to the killing and injury of a number of governmental soldiers.

 The governmental troops bombarded areas in Hama's northern countryside, including Mork and Zowar. The attack on Hama's areas led to the killing of eight citizens from the same family, and dozens of injuries.
Syrian observatory for human rights (SOHR) monitored violations against the cease-fire agreement sponsored by Turnkey and Russia, as districts of Aleppo's western side have been bombarded by the governmental troops. The observatory also monitored the governmental attacks on Damascus' districts of Qabon and Jober leading to the killing of two fighters and the injury of two others.


An IED exploded in Maarshorin area led to the death of four rebels and wounded others from Tahrir al-Sham committee.

SOHR was informed that the number of security members in regime forces who were killed by attacks targeted security branches in Homs city rose to 42, including the head of the military security, in the details. 

The details of this incident are that militiamen attacked the security branches in al-Mahatta area and killed a guard, and when the other security members grouped around the killed guard, an attacker detonated himself by them, followed by second grouping of security members, and second suicide attack, leading to clashes between the two sides what led to a third suicide attack, what killed at least 30 members of the military security in regime forces and 12 security elements, while others were wounded including the head of the security branch.
