Mauritanian President first appearance after being shooted
The Mauritanian President, Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, said in his declaration to the Mauritanian national television on Sunday that "he is in a good health and has already passed danger stage.”
Speaking from the military hospital in the capital
Nouakchott before leaving to France for medical treatment he added that it was due to the exerted efforts of his faithful surgeons and doctors that he was in a better condition.
In the short statement he also mentioned that he was mistakenly shot from a Mauritanian military patrol and the solider that shot him was in his guarding shift.
The President was transferred by a private French medical plane, which arrived to Nouakchott today morning and he was accompanied by the First Minister Moulaye Ould Mohamed Laghdaf and General Mohamed Ould al Ghazwani.
Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz mentioned in his declaration to Mauritanians at Nouakchott international airport that there was no need to worry about his health.
Where the opposition leader and the president of Rally of Democratic Forces party (RDF) "Takatol Al Kowa Al Democratia" Ahmed Ould Daddah has cancelled his press conference which was expected to held today afternoon in his party headquarter in the capital, confirming that cancelling the conference came due to the recent actions yesterday.
Several opposition parties, supporter parties as well as several organizations and political movements expressed their sorrow for the accident, expressing their keenness on keeping security and peace which lead to safety.
The majority parties' coalition has congratulated President Ould Abdel Aziz for his survival, thanking the medical team in the military hospital for their exerted efforts.
