Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas
The Palestinian Government on Monday announced its readiness and preparedness to set up an independent Palestinian state by September. Dr Ali Al Jirbawi, Palestinian Minister of Planning
and Administrative Development, said in an official statement that the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) was ready to set up an independent state as scheduled in September.
The PNA will submit a report detailing its plan to the Ad-hoc Liaison Committee in Brussels on Wednesday.
The statement claims that the PNA has reduced its dependence on financial aid from donors by 35 per cent since 2009, reduced its expenses and improved its revenue collection methods. Last year the Authority's national income reached $2 billion for the first time in its history
The report which the PNA submitted to the Donors Council stressed that the Authority will sustain a growth rate of 9 per cent this year.
The PNA has successfully carried out several infrastructure projects, adding that the Authority has allocated budgetary support to vital projects in critical areas.
