A high official source said that “the future president of Egypt might not be one of the current known candidates” pointing out that he might be a university lecturer, or one of the well-known economic experts
.
A close source to the Military council has denied that “Marshal Tantawi is planning to nominate himself in the coming elections.”
The source, who refused to be named, said that: “Tantawi wishes to retire after he hands over power peacefully.”
The source added that: “the military wants the future leader for Egypt to have specific characteristics, including high educational level, leadership and management experience, decisive, the ability to manage Egypt’s economy especially during this economic disaster that Egypt is going through.
The source confirmed that the military council will not stand against Egyptian people to choose their own president, and if this president doesn’t appear, then the competition for the presidency will be between the four candidates, Amro Mousa, Abdel Menem Abu Al-Fotoh, Hisham Al-Bastawesi, Ahmed Shafeeq.
On the other hand, a number of Egyptian activists have called through ‘Facebook’ for another revolution on November 18th, to call for handing over power to a civilian government.
The activists said: “we will protest, and we will not leave the square before they put a specific and a very soon deadline to hand over power to an elected president.”
They have also called through their message on facebook, which was approved by 7000 Egyptians, to go down to Al-Tahreer square, if the Military council doesn’t respond to the people’s demands.
The activists have also criticized the military council and its management, such as putting in trying 16000 civilians, the price rise without any economic progress.
The Islamic presidential candidate, Hazem Abu Ismael, has called to go down to the streets and protest on November 18th if the council doesn’t respond to people’s demands.
