Yemeni Salafists declare party
Yemeni negotiation meetings were initiated in Germany on the national dialogue, in participation with Yemeni politicians, as Salafists of Yemen held on Tuesday a conference in which they announced the creation
of a party that includes all Yemenis.
Yemeni politicians held negotiation meetings from March 9 to 12 in Germany on the national dialogue.
Among participants were Dr. Yassen Saeed Numan, secretary general of the Yemeni Socialist Party, Dr Abdullkarim al-Iryani, deputy president of the General People\'s Congress, Haider Abu Baker al-Attas, former prime minister, Abdulwahab al-Anasi, chairman of the supreme council of Joint Meeting Parties (JMP), Yahya al-Houthi, a leader in Houthis\' group, in addition to Abdulqater Hillal, Ali Saif Hassen, Dr. Jamilla al-Ra\'abi, Hussein al-Fadli and Jamilla Ali Rajja.
Ali Saeed Hassen, head of the Political Development Forum said on his Facebook page that this \"vision and initiative\" came from the Forum to think about the national dialogue, noting that the German government, in cooperation with the Berjahoof German Organisation, sponsored the idea.
It is expected that the national dialogue conference will be held in Yemen during the coming phase, in accordance with the power transfer deal. The conference will discuss Yemen\'s outstanding issues and offer solutions, followed by the drafting of a new constitution for Yemen.
Yemen\'s Salafists held a conference on Tuesday in which they declared the creation of a party that includes all Yemenis.
This is the first step by the Salafi movement in Yemen to engage in the political process after refusing political participation for years.
Head of the Preparation Committee Mohammad al-Ameri said that the new political party will respect settlements reached by all parties, stressing that they are going to take part in the national dialogue conference to be held later inf March.
Secretary General of the conference Aqeel Al-Maqtari said that women will also participate.
