Activists across Jordan\'s political spectrum marched in protest after Friday prayers in front of al-Husseini mosque in central Amman. Protesters attacked the new government of Fayez Tarawneh
and burned US and Israeli flags, two days after the country\'s new government was sworn in.
Demonstrators reject the 1994 peace agreement between Jordan and Israel, known as the Wadi Araba Treaty. and their chants chided the Jordanian king, shouting slogans against government policy which critics say has caused political, economic and social deterioration in the Western-allied country. Other issues blamed on the government include an alleged crackdown on freedom together with poverty, increase in the country’s debt and massive unemployment. They also denounced what they describe as \"isolation from their Arab neighbours and being followers of Israel and anti-Arab entities.\"
