Israeli Chief of Staff General Benny Gantz

Israeli Chief of Staff General Benny Gantz Gaza – Mohammed Habib Hamas said it was not scared of Israeli threats to wage a new war on Gaza, despite taking these threats seriously. Israeli Chief of Staff General Benny Gantz renewed threats Monday night, and stated hisarmy was ready for any confrontation. This was the second time in a week Gantz has given such statements.
Fawzi Barhoum, spokesman for Hamas, said in a statement on Tuesday that, “these Israeli threats are meant to create confusion among Palestinians.\"
He considered these threats an, “exportation of the internal Israeli crisis to the Gaza Strip.\" Barhoum said, “we are not scared of these threats, they will not cause panic and they won’t affect the determination of the Palestinian people.”
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said, “Israel was born to remain, not to end.\" Barhoum requested the Palestinian Authority, to avoid giving the occupation the opportunity to level such threats and escalations against Gaza.
He also demanded the PA to use all leverage available to stop such harassments, including ending security coordination, diplomatic campaigns and making the occupation internationally illegal.
The Hamas representative said the current Israeli government is, “the most extreme and most dangerous for the Palestinian people and their rights. The Israeli leaders are involved in war crimes and crimes against humanity.\"
Expert in Israeli affairs Adnan Abu Amer, sees Israel as a state mainly based on the security dimension. He believes constant threats are a means of keeping the internal front in constant preparation for confrontation.\"
The most important point for Abu Amer, is that the occupation lost its deterring ability during the wars on Gaza and Lebanon; hence the return to war talk.
