Cairo - Mahmoud Hassani
A number of former commanders of Egypt’s military forces praised the recent maneuvers the Egyptian troops conducted recently with their Bahraini and Emirati counterparts in the largest military cooperation between the three countries since 1991. They stressed that the maneuvers come in the framework of the agreement concluded between the chiefs of staff of the three countries during their recent meeting held in Emirates.
Former Luxor’s Governor Mahmoud Khalaf said that the maneuvers aim to send clear message to the regional powers that work to increase their influence in the Gulf, including Iran, through supporting Houthi group in Yemen. He added that supporting such groups poses serious threat against the security of both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
The second message, according to Khalaf, is to the world powers that worked to execute their conspiring plans against the regional states in the framework of the so-called the Arab Spring. He described the Arab Spring uprising as a plan adopted by international intelligence authorities to divide the regional powers and eliminate their armies.
On his hand, military adviser of Nasser Academy Talat Muslim said that the main objective of such military cooperation is to prove that the three country will work together to prevent any plans aiming to destabilize their security. He stressed that the three countries also aspire to work to eliminate extremism as a top priority for all of them.
It is important to mention that Egypt has good relations with both Bahrain and Emirates, as the Egyptian government was the first to call for such maneuvers. They believe the importance of military cooperation as a cornerstone of security and stability in the three countries.
