Tourist arrivals in Cuba increased 11.3 percent from January through May this year compared to the same period in 2010, the Cuban National Statistics Bureau said Tuesday. Last year, Cuba attracted 2.5 million tourists, an increase of 4.2 percent compared to 2009. Tourist arrivals in 2011 are expected to reach 2.7 million. During the first five months, the Caribbean island country received 1,363,760 visitors. Tourism is one of the most dynamic sectors of the Cuban economy, generating over 2 billion U.S. dollars annually in recent years.
