Indians with United States visas or green cards will soon be able to obtain visas on arrival in the UAE.
Ordinary passport holders from India who have US visas or green cards with a validity of at least six months can enter the country from any point of entry for 14 days, reported Wam.
They have the option of a one-time extension of the same period.
The decision is part of the countries’ long-term partnership and is intended to promote their political, economic and trade relations.
It comes following a historic visit in January by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to New Delhi to further cement the countries’ robust ties.
India is the UAE’s second-largest trade partner, with trade between the countries reaching US$60 billion (Dh220bn) a year.
UAE exports to India are worth Dh99bn per year and Indian exports to the UAE Dh121bn. There is one flight on average every 10 minutes between the two countries, amounting to 1,000 flights a week. Last year, there were 1.6 million Indian tourists in the UAE and 50,000 UAE tourists who visited India.
India invests about Dh257bn in the UAE through 45,000 Indian companies. The Emirates invests about Dh36.7bn in India, in the energy, metallurgy, service, technology and construction industries.
