Zachary Quinto will not appear on Heroes reboot Heroes Reborn.
The 37-year-old actor portrayed Gabriel Gray, aka Sylar, on the original NBC series, but revealed he will not return for the new show in an interview with Kate Aurthur of Buzzfeed. Quinto said creator Tim Kring approached him for the program, but admitted he is interested in different projects.
"No, I'm not going to go back," he declared. "I talked to them about it, and Tim reached out to me when they decided they were going to do it. We had a great conversation. It was such a meaningful experience for me -- I loved that job, I loved those people."
"I just felt like I didn't want to go back to it," he confessed. "I'm thrilled that they're doing it, I'm thrilled that Jack Coleman is going back to it ... I mean, it's a great thing to be a part of. I just felt like I need to cultivate other outlets for myself."
Chuck star Zachary Levi was confirmed to lead the reboot earlier this month. The 34-year-old actor will star in an unspecified role alongside Coleman, who portrayed Noah Bennet, aka Horn-Rimmed Glasses, on Heroes.
Heroes debuted in 2006, and ran for four seasons. The sci-fi drama followed a group of people who discover they have superhuman abilities, and featured Hayden Panettiere and Adrian Pasdar, among others. Panettiere hadn't been approached for the new show as of April 2014.
Quinto is also known for playing Spock in Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), and appeared on American Horror Story: Murder House and Asylum. The actor is slated to star with Peter Sarsgaard and Uma Thurman on NBC miniseries The Slap.
