Taylor Swift released "Out of the Woods," the second single of her upcoming fifth album, at midnight on Monday.
The track was co-written by Swift and fun.'s Jack Antonoff and finds the singer wondering if she and a former lover are "out of the woods yet?" The song is believed to have several references to her fling with British singer Harry Styles.
Swift and the One Direction frontman dated briefly from October 2012 to January 2013. The song is packed with hints about the relationship including a reference to "last December" and a paper plane necklace they were both seen wearing during their time together.
While detailing the track in an interview with ABC's Good Morning America on Monday, Swift said the song was about "a relationship where I was kind of, living day to day, wondering where it was going, if it was going to go anywhere, if it was going to end the next day."
"Out of The Woods" is the fourth track on the singer's first official pop album 1989, which will be released on Oct. 27.
