Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon have been cast in Big Little Lies.
The 47-year-old and 38-year-old actresses will executive produce and star in the limited series based on Liane Moriarty's novel of the same name. David E. Kelley (The Practice, Ally McBeal) will write the script and also co-executive produce with Moriarty.
Big Little Lies is set in the suburbs, and focuses on three women with young children at the same elite school. The characters' seemingly perfect lives begin to unravel when a fundraising event turns violent, and one parent won't survive the conflict.
Kidman last appeared alongside Colin Firth in Before I Go to Sleep, and is scheduled for a number of projects, including Werner Herzog film Queen of the Desert, Strangerland with Hugo Weaving and and The Secret in Their Eyes with Julia Roberts and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Witherspoon most recently starred with Firth in Devil's Knot, and will portray real-life author Cheryl Strayed in Wild come December. The film is based on Strayed's memoir of the same name, and follows her 1,100-mile hike in the Pacific Northwest with no prior backpacking experience.
