Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey and talk-show host John Oliver have joined the voice cast of the new animated series Danger Mouse, the BBC announced.
Headey will play U.S. Secret Agent Jeopardy Mouse, while Oliver will portray mad-scientist wolf Dr. Augustus P. Crumhorn III. The new cast members' characters will appear alongside Alexander Armstrong's titular rodent, the world's smallest secret agent, as well as Kevin Eldon's trusty sidekick Penfold, Stephen Fry's Colonel K. and Dave Lamb's narrator.
The reimagined version of the 1980s series will premiere on CBBC in the autumn. It will also air in the United States on Netflix.
"I wanted to do it [Danger Mouse] because it was pure nostalgia for me. I have children now, and it's just a treat to be involved in something that you loved as a kid and be able to share it. Those moments as an actor that come along once in while are not to be missed," Headey said in a statement Sunday.
"I've loved Danger Mouse my whole life. Danger Mouse was a significant part of my childhood. So, to get a chance to do it is like getting a chance to step into your childhood, which is both a magical and a potentially hazardous thing! It will be awesome. I can't wait to see it, let alone hear myself in it!" added Oliver.
"Sassy and stealthy, Jeopardy Mouse is a super-proficient American, female version of Danger Mouse. The unseen star of the U.S. Secret Service, she performs her missions with the minimum of fuss. Meanwhile, longtime Danger Mouse adversary, Dr. Augustus P. Crumhorn III, continues to cause trouble for Danger Mouse and Penfold with his wolfish, wily scientific ways," a synopsis said.
